Travel Plans
Car-sharing is just one travel mode that can be promoted as part of a company or organisation’s travel plan. What is a Travel Plan? A Travel Plan is simply a long-term management strategy for a site, employer or organisation that aims to reduce car-use by improving and encouraging the alternatives to driving alone. A Travel Plan also seeks to address the needs of those who do not have a choice to drive. Successful travel plans can reduce single-occupancy car use by 10 to 30% and can cover commuter journeys, business travel, visitor travel and incoming goods and services. Preparation of a Travel Plan A Travel Plan is a dynamic process that will grow and develop with time and in accordance with the changing circumstances of your organisation and the environment in which it works. It is not a one-off event to be undertaken and completed, nor is it a document to be produced and put on a shelf. It is the start of a new and better way of living and working, a process of evolution not revolution.
